Artwork Inspiration

"A fantastical, stylised bouquet of native blooms on deep rouge — a modern abstract botanical still life."

ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
This artwork is one of my experimental pieces — built up in many layers, almost like a collage but all painted, starting with the vase and building the shapes and blooms around it, then adding all the fine detail.

The flowers are highly stylised and imaginary — pods, flowering gum nuts, banksias, spent banksia heads and lily-like forms, all inspired by Australian natives but pushed into fantasy. Here it's set on a deep ruby-red, rouge ground, the blooms lifted with pops of pink, pastel and jewel tones. It's my kind of modern stylised botanical still life — an escape from realism.

Not sure which size?

Here's how to I think about print sizes.

A4 (210 × 297mm / 8.3 × 11.7")
Perfect above a desk, nightstand, or shelf. A4 loves company — group two or three together and they become something considered.

A3 (297 × 420mm / 11.7 × 16.5")
The sweet spot. Beautiful above a chair, console, or entry table. Pairs well with another A3 or an A2.

A2 (420 × 594mm / 16.5 × 23.4")
This is the one I'd choose for a statement piece. Above a sofa or bed, it fills the wall the way a painting should. Two or three A2s side by side above a lounge or feature wall — that's a gallery. The colour hits differently at that scale.

Styling

A fantastical, highly stylised bouquet in pink, pastel and jewel tones, set against a deep rouge-red ground, makes this a bold, rich piece. It's a strong focal point in a living room, hallway or dining room, and holds its own as a statement. Pair it with its teal companion, or another bold botanical print, for a vibrant gallery wall. Art Print Questions

What is a fine art giclée print?

A fine art giclée print is a high-quality reproduction of an original artwork, produced using archival pigment inks on premium fine art paper.

This process captures richer colour, finer detail, and closer fidelity to the original painting than standard posters or mass-produced prints, and is widely used by artists and galleries for long-lasting, museum-quality reproductions.

How are your art prints made?

Each art print is reproduced from an original hand-painted artwork by Australian artist Kirsten Katz, using professional archival printing processes to preserve colour, detail, and longevity.

Do giclee prints last or will they fade?

Giclée prints are produced using archival pigment inks on acid-free fine art paper, selected for their resistance to fading and colour degradation.

When framed behind glass or UV-protective acrylic and displayed out of direct sunlight, these materials are designed to remain vibrant for many decades. Under good conditions, industry standards suggest giclée prints can last 100+ years.

Will the colours look the same as on screen?

We take great care to ensure accurate colour reproduction, however colours may appear slightly different depending on individual screen settings, lighting conditions, and the way artwork is displayed in your space.

Each print is produced using high-quality archival materials to capture the depth and richness of the original artwork as faithfully as possible.

Do your prints come framed, and do they fit standard frame sizes?

Our art prints are sold unframed, allowing you to choose a frame that suits your home and interior style.

All prints fit standard Australian frame sizes, including A4, A3 and A2. You can also size up ( for example, placing an A4 print in an A3 frame) to include matting for a more considered, gallery-style finish.

Frames are widely available from photography and homeware retailers, or you may choose professional framing for a more tailored finish.

How should I care for my art print?

Giclée art prints on paper should be treated like fine art. Avoid touching the printed surface, as oils from the skin can mark or affect the finish over time — handle by the edges where possible.

For best longevity, prints should be framed behind glass or UV-protective acrylic (perspex) and displayed away from direct sunlight and high-humidity areas to help preserve colour and paper quality.
