About This Artwork

From the Flora Fantastica series, Flora Fantastica No. 2 is a one-of-a-kind original painting by Australian artist Kirsten Katz.

A lively, high-energy bouquet bursts from a deep navy vase with fine stripes and a dotted base, set on a violet-blue striped tabletop against a soft sage green. At the centre, a golden flower opens in rings of coral and pink around a star-shaped heart, framed by a halo of tiny black dots. A tall golden banksia with mint-tipped stamens rises on the left, joined by pink and orange zigzag leaves, two long blue stems with dotted heads, curling fuchsia petals, an orange honeycomb bloom and deep green leaves scattered with lilac drops. Hand-painted pattern runs through every petal, in lines, dots, zigzags and stripes, giving the whole piece rhythm and movement.

Painted in acrylic on a 40 x 60cm canvas and professionally framed in Australia in a Tasmanian oak float frame. The light timber sits easily in any interior, from coastal and beach homes to soft beige rooms, and lets the painting and its colours take centre stage. Signed and titled on the back, so no signature interrupts the painting itself. Ready to hang. Beautiful on its own, or hung with No. 1 and No. 3 as a set of two or three. Once sold, this piece will not be repeated.

The light oak suits any interior, from coastal and beach homes to soft beige rooms, and lets the colours of the painting shine.

A statement size with real presence. Big enough to anchor a wall, and just as striking on its own as it is hung with the rest of the series.

Best Suited For
Above a sofa, sideboard, bed or dining buffet, in an entryway or hallway, or side by side with Flora Fantastica No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 for a wall that feels complete.

Choose one on its own, or two or three together as a set.

Good to Know

Does the painting come framed?
Yes. All original paintings are framed and ready to hang, exactly as shown in the images, unless specifically stated as unframed.

Is it ready to hang?
Yes. Each painting comes with hanging hardware already attached — just find your wall and hang it.

Is the painting signed?
Yes. All originals are signed on the back, keeping the front of the artwork clean and uninterrupted.

How is it packaged and shipped?
Each painting is carefully packaged to ensure it arrives safely and in perfect condition. All orders are sent with full tracking details provided once dispatched.

Can I pay in instalments?
Yes — Afterpay is available at checkout.

Will this painting ever be copied or painted again?
No. I will never paint an exact copy of this work or accept a commission to recreate it. Each original is a unique, one-off painting — the only hand-painted version of that piece that will ever exist. A giclée fine art print may be released from the same artwork at a later date, but the original painting itself will never be repeated.

Will the colours look exactly the same as they do online?
I photograph all original paintings carefully to represent colours as accurately as possible. Screens can vary, but most collectors find the work looks even better in person — richer, more textured, and more alive than any photograph can capture.

What Inspires Kirsten’s Work

Kirsten Katz creates modern botanical art shaped by a deep appreciation for floral form, structure, and colour — drawing inspiration from both Australian native and exotic blooms.

Each original painting is designed with intention and restraint, balancing expression with cohesion so it can live beautifully within a home. The focus is not on trends or decoration, but on creating art that feels considered, personal, and enduring.

These works are created to be lived with — chosen for their ability to bring a space together, reflect individual style, and become the essence of the home.

"I believe art is more than decoration — it's a statement of style, a celebration of nature, and a source of everyday joy." — Kirsten Katz

Original Paintings by Kirsten Katz

Each original painting in this collection is a single, unrepeatable work — acrylic paint and mixed media, built through layers of colour, instinct and decision. The subject is always flowers, always nature, always bold. No two paintings are alike. No painting is ever repeated. Collectors across Australia, the USA and UK have brought these works into their homes.

Collecting & New Releases

New original paintings are released several times throughout the year in small numbers. Collectors who follow along on Instagram are often the first to see new works before they're listed here.
