About This Artwork

Superflora No. 2 is a one-of-a-kind original painting by Australian artist Kirsten Katz, from the Superflora series.

The story behind Superflora
A supernova is the moment a star bursts open in a blaze of light and colour. That is the feeling I wanted in these paintings: one big flower at full burst. They began with the native flowers I love most, like the protea, and grew into imaginary blooms of my own. Each Superflora is painted loosely and freely, with bold shapes and layers of colour, so the flower feels like it is opening right in front of you.

About this painting
One big fantasy flower bursts open on a striped green stem across a textured pink ground, its petals in neon pink, orange, gold, lilac and teal, each outlined in deep green. Zigzag leaves sway on either side, a frilled pink bloom curls in from the right, and long sweeping leaves fan out at the base. It is joyful, modern and full of movement, a painting that brings warmth and energy to any room.

Painted in acrylic on a 20 x 20 inch (51 x 51cm) canvas and finished in a natural pine float frame. Signed and titled by hand on the back before it is sent to you, so no signature interrupts the painting itself. Ready to hang. Will the colours look exactly the same as they do online?
I photograph all original paintings carefully to represent colours as accurately as possible. Screens can vary, but most collectors find the work looks even better in person — richer, more textured, and more alive than any photograph can capture.
